No one like you
A poem by Nicole Kuol
There is no friend is a friend like you
I brought your teary eyes to dry
When I cry, I find nobody deeply cries with me
But with you, every tear I shed is right there in your palm
Like the last pearl of precious pearl on earth
Like brown leaves of the summer time
I get fragile and broken into tiny pieces
But I got you to fix my fragments together
And I don’t care if all the great master pieces fall down in awe
For I know no one to be found like you and no one will ever be
With so much striking qualities beyond measuring scales
My words for a word to describe you
I can not find
There is no friend is a friend like you
And every time I look into those eyes
A guilt plagues me
All I see is mercy and graciousness, that is ready to turn my guilt down
To set me free with joy
When I am with you close
I feel so protected and loved
And no harm hate me enough to hurt me
Because you silence its fangs
You will be the reason I smile
Even when I am lost in vexation
Cause I know I will find my way back if I look up to you
Your approval is a life to me.
A second way from you, and I ain’t different from the fish off the water gasping for breath
There is no friend is a friend like you, oh Jah
You are my God and a friend.
